Work with an Experienced, Reliable Commercial Roofing Company
HX offers dependable, high quality commercial roofing services in the Chicagoland area at a fair price. Our team of experienced and skilled roofer experts can inspect your existing roof and determine if a replacement is necessary. We understand how important it is for you to have a durable and strong low-slope roof that offers protection from wind, water, and other hazards that may impact your home or business. We can provide installation or replacement of your existing commercial roof and offer several material options.
Selecting the right type of roofing for your commercial building can seem overwhelming if you don’t know anything about roofing. Our team can help you through this process and ensure you select the right roofing material for your building and your specific needs. There are 5 main types of flat roofing:
Thermoplastic Polyolefin (or TPO) is a cost-effective and durable material for commercial roofs. It is a relative newcomer compared to the other materials on the list and amongst the most commonly used today for low slope roofing systems. It is energy-efficient, chemical-resistant, and heat resistant, at a price point below PVC despite the fact that it has been proven to age better (Heat Aging and Accelerated Weathering tests). These features ensure it provides savings for you.
Using single-ply roofing systems for your commercial building offer several important benefits, including exceptional protection from the elements, easy installation, and cost-effectiveness. Our team can help you figure out if the single-ply roofing system is right for your building and if it is the best option for your needs.
Before TPO, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) was the number 1 option for single ply roofing, in part because it was considered favorable to tar and gravel. It shares many of the same qualities as TPO and is able to withstand a larger range of chemicals and is slightly more flexible. As such, it can be a good membrane roof covering for restaurants that vent the kitchen to the roof. However, PVC does contain some plastic elements (plasticizers) and, depending on the type of material, PVC may break down sooner. PVC is typically more expensive than TPO.
Another product we offer for commercial roofs is modified bitumen. This is an asphalt product and designed to last for 20 years – sometimes more. When installed properly, you have a leak-resistant surface that can also stand up to damage from fire, high winds, and hailstorms at a price point much better than the plastic/rubber options above.
Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer, or EPDM, is a modified rubber material with several great qualities. It is supremely flexible and as a result can withstand decades of hot/cold cycles and, when fully adhered, handle building settling. Due to the fact that it is chemically inert, it is a great choice for restaurants. However, despite the fact that it is flexible and resistant to chemicals, and even handles hail well, it is a poor choice for heavy foot traffic areas.
Tar and gravel roofs were the golden standard for more than a century. However, they posed several risks, notably, melting asphalt in a kettle poses logistical issues. Nevertheless, it is a proven, durable, and hail proof system and a great choice for large low slope roofing systems as it can last far longer than other single-ply systems and be the most economical option.
Our team will perform thorough inspections for commercial roofing systems to check for any early warning signs of damage or other possible issues. This helps to prevent these issues from turning into more significant problems that may cost your company a lot of money to repair down the road.
